(We have a stamp now!!)
If you clicked on my AdCast Ad, THANK YOU! Please take a look at the street team!!
I am starting a street team to promote my artwork. I need to turn this into a bit of an operation, since I can't seem to figure out income any other way, timewise. A street team is a grass-rootsy type of organization created to promote an artist or event. They're usually used with musical artists, but I figure this works just as well.
This street team pertains MAINLY to deviantart. Please keep that in mind!
You sign up for my street team, you get
FREE STUFF
. Yeah. That's right. And all you have to do is tell people about me and promote me as much as you can. But you have to
READ THE RULES.
How It Works
1) Sign up by commenting on this journal entry. (see the form below)
2) Decide which type of street team member you'd like to be (digital or physical)
3) Receive promotional materials and free stuff from me
4) Promote my artwork
5) Epic win.
That's it! This is a trial run, so please bear with me. I'm still figuring this out.
Digital or Physical?
Physical street team members will send me their address via a note or email, and I'll add you to my mailing list. ALL THIS DOES is that I send you some materials once, and maybe a refill should you ask for it. I will not divulge your information to ANYONE, and I may in fact delete it after I send you the goods.

I will send stuff in a manilla envelope that is decorated with my crazy awesome drawingness. Physical street team gets a print or two as a thank you for being part of the street team. If you are on this part of the team, run around sticking stickers everywhere, posting flyers, and handing out business cards when you get the chance. Promotional street team will receive:
- access to the digital street team website AND
- stickers, postcards, business cards, and promotional materials
- a print or two.

On Kodak paper
Digital street team means you don't need to give me your address, and everything is done digitally. I will send you to a password protected website with printable versions of promotional materials, and some goodies for members (like wallpapers, sketches, linearts). Digital street team will receive:
- access to the digital street team website with promotional materials available for printouts, icons, wallpapers, sketches, linearts, etc.
- my undying gratitude?
Both teams are expected to help with getting the word out on deviantart and the world beyond (
not too far beyond!!!) while STILL FOLLOWING THE RULES of the website! Both teams come with the responsibility of helping me with promotion and not exploiting my generosity!!!
Remember: You are expected to promote my artwork, but still follow the rules of this website, or you might get in trouble with administration!

Name (or screenname):
Physical or Digital?:
Favourite Deviation of Ceri's?:
If you want to be on the physical street team, simply note me with a name and address to send materials to. You can use a P.O. Box or any other type of mailing address.
Rules
1) Please keep most of your promotion to the deviantart website. The physical street team will have guidelines sent in the promotional packaging.
2) Please promote me in a way that follows deviantart's rules. This means no spamming other people's pages. Leaving a link in your signature, posting my thumbs in thumbshare, there are a million ways to promote me without breaking the rules of the site.
3) I dictate what materials go where, and when. I promise to be very upfront about what's going on! But please don't give me a hard time if you haven't received materials yet, or if you're getting impatient. I'm just getting organised.
4) Have fun with it!
Frequently Asked Questions
Is it a huge time commitment?
NO! Absolutely not! I'm only asking for as much time as you are able and willing to give, no more! If you're on deviantart, browsing around, figure out some way to promote my art through the site. There are a million ways, and you're all very creative people. But if you get a spare minute, you can post up my art in a chatroom you frequent (follow rules!), or you can show my artwork to some of your friends, or you can tell someone you know likes to commission people if you think I'm right up their alley for their character. It's not a huge time committment, it's just asking for you to take a moment out of your free deviantart time to help a fellow out!
What can I do to promote but follow the rules?
- post my thumbs in a chatroom you like, if they allow thumbs. #Thumbsshare does, #IAmAnthro does, etc. Make sure the right kind of art in the right chatroom! No strictly anime art in anthro chats, etc.
- post something like "Want free stuff from cerena? Join the street team" in your sig, with a link to this journal.
- when you post up artwork, if you think it's relevant and won't clutter, post something in your artist comments.

- suggest for a daily deviation (I'm not going to specifically ask this, because it really depends on whether or not you think a piece deserves it, but it IS one of the ways someone has discussed on here)
- draw something specifically relating to the street team!
- there will be a list I will send out to the street team members with more ideas!
Why are you doing this?
My Street Team idea is really a way for me to both encourage the promotion of my art (since I need all the help I can get with getting the word out there) while still giving back to the people who support me. It's very important to me that these people get something in return for their commitment, so the street team is the perfect way to do this.
As for why I need the word out there, I often put up commissions info, but my target audience is really not getting to see the fact its up there. I've seen loads of artists producing the same high quality work and getting loads of commission requests! I didn't go to school for art, and I'm trying not to regret that decision, so this is a way to validate that by still doing commissions and making it into a business. I'm trying to show you don't have to go to art school to make it as an artist. Sometimes, just learning from your community makes you improve, and that's what I've been doing for seven or eight years now.
Thank you!
